Description
Tasked with spending his summer caring for his family's six thousand sheep in the haymeadow, fourteen-year-old John Barron (unsure if he's cut out for this assignment but eager to please his father) heads out alone into the meadow with just two horses and four dogs. As he encounters a slew of misadventures, including a coyote attack and a flood, John relies on his quick wit to see himself through this demanding experience.
