Description
Young engineer Marcus Attilius Primus has just taken charge of the Roman Aqua Augusta, the aqueduct that supplies water to Rome, but there is a problem. Springs are failing, and the sixty-mile mainline is drying up. Attilius promises Pliny, the famous scholar and commander of the navy, that he can repair the aqueduct before the reservoir runs dry. To do this, he must travel to the city of Pompeii to hire an expedition into the mountains to repair the aqueduct. But Pompeii is a corrupt and violent city where Attilius discovers that there are powerful forces that want to destroy him and stop the flow of water to Rome.
