Clayton Riddell is in Boston, brokering a deal for a comic book so he can make art instead of teaching it. Suddenly, everything changes, especially for those who own a cell phone. A phenomenon Clayton and a few survivors like himself call the Pulse happens and everyone who has a cell phone is reduced to a zombie-like existence.
